I have a factory AM/FM/Cassette in my 95SC2; the display still functions fine but the backlight for the LCD is no longer working and the lights for the buttons have also ceased to function. The equalizer sliders are the only thing lit.

I''m assuming this is an internal problem with the LCD and possibly with other internal circuitry.

Has anyone ever opened one of these up and fixed such things?

I know Saturn used to have a low cost refurbishing swap plan, but I''ve been told this has long since ceased.

Trying to keep the car stock and 100% functional

Thanks

Derf

I''ve heard of people buying the replacement bulbs from Radio Shack then disassembling the radio and soldering the new bulbs in place. I havent done this though, I''ve never kept a stock radio in a car more than a couple days.

I have a stock AM/FM/Casette from a ''99 SL1 that I will let go cheap (shipping + a few bucks for my troubles) if it will work for you.

AZJoeD -

If possible, measure the dimensions of your unit and also the measurements of the mounting tabs, and post them here, please? Trying to see if I have enough room in my 93SW2 ...

Thanks

A radio from a 99 wont fit into a 93. Not even close.

Yeah, Mike is right. I am glad he posted those pics, so you can see what they look like.

You also have to consider the connectors in back, although you could splice the wires.

I don''t see any way this ''99 radio will fit your ''93 without major surgery.

Actually thats the only part that would fit and work. The electrical connectors are the same.
