</>Long time Saturn guy. I trained in Spring Hill..set up a dealership in 02 and managed until 05. Saturn was my last stop in car biz.. I managed Honda..Toyota..Acura..many others..but we bought Saturn for my wife and kids. I build hot rods..cycles..so Ihave car skills..but I can see the knowledge base here on these cars is quite impressive..so..I came to the source. Would really appreciate your insite.


Just had my son's 97 SC2 die..175K rod knock..it survived two teenagers..did it's jobwell...sad to see it die. I am gifting it to a Saturn tech who can rebuild for his kids.


I found a VERYclean 01 SC2 w 65K. Bought from a lot..after I saw it go at auction. Clean car fax..no codes.


Ran great for two days and 250 miles. Now No Start. Spins well.


I searched the forums and found the ECT issue. I was thinking fuel pump as I can't hear the hum. Is there anything else to look at ? It's too dark right now..but in the AM I'd like to diagnose. I don't have a code reader. I'll let it sit tonight and try the "flood" start..pedal to floor..but want to solve this issue long term.


The dealer has to give 15 days return/fix/warranty..but this car is very clean..low miles and a $3500 SC2 is a great buy for a guy with one in college..and another soon..so I want to keep the SC2.


Any issues to look for ? I like to know BEFORE talking to a sled lot recon...as they usually cause more harm than good.

hmm.starter go bad. I dont kno much about these saturns im a noob. But i would try that cause if your fuel pump, and battery and everything seems like its fine try the starter.

 

Starter does work..engine spins. Will not fire..thinking ECT or pump.

 

Maybe try squirting some starting fluid in the intake. If it starts and runs
for a few moments, and then dies, that pretty much tells you the engine is
not getting fuel.

Changed CPS..no change

Found loose coil pack. Tightened and start right up. All good now.
