2000 Saturn Issues...Any Suggestions??
Alright I just bought a used 2000 4 doot saturn l series...roughly 178000 miles..couple of issues im having with the car was wondering if anyone knew what they possibly would be...
1. Coolant low sensor light on dash constantly however coolant level fine in reservoir (looks brown and frothy however)
2. When trying to accelerate the car seems to shake and not want to accelerate that quickly....
3. When the clutch is depressed it ALWAYS revs up to about 2000 rpms, will come back down when in gear or very slowly come down after idling high for a short period of time...
Bought the car for 500 bucks knew it had issues just hopefully not extremely expensive ones...Wish I knew more about cars but any thoughts would help..thanks for your time

One issue with the cooling system which probably exists is that the OEM antifreeze was not compatible with existing aftermarket antifreezes available at the time. That has changed, I just do not know when as I write. If you look at the container of antifreeze NOW you will see wording that says something like compatible with any color antifreeze. When ever that started to become available there still would be antifreezes that were not cross compatible on the shelves. If used, caused a gooky brown froth mess.
My suggestion would be to drain and flush the cooling system as best as you can with clear water hoping to get what ever is in there out of there completly and then re-fill with currentlly available antifreeze. I honestly do not know how successfull you will be. Seems to me I have done it once. And the end result was workable.
My 1994 Saturn has been done that way, but I do not remember when it was that I did this. Probably some where around the year 2000. I still have a half a gallon of OEM style anti-freeze in the garage. I now use Prestone or Peak which says it works with any color.
As for the rest, it sounds like it might be some form of a fuel injector problem, hard to tell, Have you looked at spark plugs and wires and checked the Air Cleaner and does it display any error codes? Inquiring minds would like to know.
