2008 Astra Door Locks
Hello there. I'm new here. Our daughter has a 2008 Astra. The rear driver side door lock stopped functioning ( the other 3 locks work fine ) so they bought a replacement only to find that the old actuator does actually work. I had suggested electrical troubleshooting before buying parts but, hey, I'm just dad. So today I took the fuse out of the rear fuse panel to test it and it's fine. However, upon replacing said fuse, now none of the locks work. So the deal is, only one lock was malfunctioning, checked the fuse and now no locks functioning. Retest fuse and still nothing. Anyone know anything? GM dealers in our area are pompous asses who hear 2008 and I'm doing it myself and lose interest immediately. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Greg
P.S. The only lock functioning now is the rear hatch lock.
Thank you

Remove the fuse and measure the resistance of the fuse on the ohms setting while the fuse is out.
Inf resistance as you know means blown. I'm guessing you did a visual check and not a measurement.
The fuse prob popped when you put it back in. So it WAS good before then, popped, and now requires replacement.
Let us know

Hi derf. I popped the - btty terminal off and it reset back to what it was. When it get's back up above zero Canadian, I'll check the harness at the pillar. Seems others have had this problem - as well as speakers - before. Apparently the wires can weaken at that point and fail. Thank you.

Hi there,
I tracked the problem to a suspected broken wire in the loom that runs between the pillar and the door. I didn't fix the problem as our daughter is impatient and has just had to live with it. But that's where the problem is.
Cheers
Greg
