97 SL starting problems
#1
When I start my car sometimes it acts like the battery is dead (no lights or starter turnover). However if i turn the key off and try again it will usually start on the next try or two. I had the battery tested and it is fine. The starter is only a couple of years old at the most. Does anyone have any ideas. I'm thinking that it is an ignition problem but do not know much about it. Check battery cable ends for corrosion damage and the battery terminals themsleves for corrosion buildup. If it is an AC/Delco battery, inspect the + terminal very closely -- they tend to leak acid where the terminal comes through the battery casing.
Also check the ground connection to the frame (the other end of the - battery cable. This needs to be a good connection to complete the electrical circuit.
Definitely sounds like a poor/intermittent electrical connection issue
