ABS Brakes
Hello people, hope everyone had a good Christmas, and will have a Happy New Year. My Christmas came early with the arrival of my son Grant from Afghanistan on Dec 11.
My question is, is there anyway to bypass the ABS system and go back to regular type of braking? My daughter's Malibu has a fuse to remove the ABS. There has been a few times where my brakes have locked up atvery low speeds and IO slid quite a distance before stopping.
Thanks guys , take care ROKO

Abs
Hi, thanks for your quick response. The car in mention is mine. I like regular brakes. My daughter is more comfortable and secure using her present , "old style" of brakes.!
Thank you for your time, have a Happy New Year

I dunno, ABS brakes have morphed from an optional add on to an integrated system in conjunction with computor control of the entire car. I have had them on cars since 1987 on a Lincoln that was frankly a piece of crap when new and did not like how the ABS worked. When the road was wet it made loud clunky noises and whacked your foot with the brake pedal to a junk yard Dodge Van where they did not work and took both feet and strong back to stop the thing. But for the most part while I personally could care less for them, they remain in the back ground and don't bother me on things newer. I don't know how to disable them and other than the Junk Yard Dodge, never really had any problem.

Thank you for the info, the main problem I have is sliding with no control while approaching intersections. That is so dangerous and it really pisses me off. O well I am leaving the brakes alone for now, hopefully someone at Saturn engineering will come up with some other method
of braking at lower speeds. Maybe a speed sensor to use regular type brakes at 5kms/hr or less and above 5kms/hr engage the ABS system. I guess we will see.
Enjoy family and friends for the rest of your holidays, take care uncljohn.
