Default Automatic transmission problems.. HELP!

i am having some automatic transmission issues with my 98 Sc2.. it started leaking really bad from the input seal about a week ago. now it is showing the check engine light from a code that says the gear ratios are wrong.. i have replace the transmission a couple times in this car and everyone read that same code b4 it went out.. is my transmission bad already? or is there a sensor that could have gone out to make it read that?? i want to know b4 i pull it out again to replace the seal.. PLEASE!!! help me! thanks

Counting the one that came in the car that makes 3 transmissions, and if this one is shot that'll make four. Does that make you think at all about your driving style?

if all trannys came up with the same code, are you sure they were all really shot?
Seems to be a helluva coincidence to me. Not saying they weren't bad (I wasn't there and can't tell from the provided info whether or not they literally crapped out).....

Aslo -- were the replacement trannys junkyard tannys or rebuilt units (just wonderin)

make sure you keep the fluid up on this one

Were any of the previous tranny issues addressed at a Saturn dealership?

I believe you can get that code if you put in a diff tranny than than the PCM is expecting to see -- but I would think that code would show right away (no personal experience with this.

OA -- the automatics in the S cars had tranny control modules, yes? Could this be contributing to this issue?

Welll ....... I'm more of the opinion that the car/tranny was improperly maintained. The leak from the input seal -- is that one of the same problems you had with the other transmissions? I could believe two units failing over time, and maybe even three -- but four identical failures? It does seem to strain credulity.

driving style didnt help the others. ive been pretty easy on this one.. checking the fluid everytime it shows different.. sometimes it shows nothing. sometimes full. and sometimes above full. and thats without me add or draining fluid between checks. its from a junk yard but i havnt had any problems with it until that seal started to leak
