When I turn the fan on in my 1994 SC1 and hit the A/C button nothing happens. I don't hear the compressor kick on nor tha RPMs drop. I have a good idea what to look for but wanted a little advice before crawling under the hood. Also, when I engage my clutch pedal I hear a sqeaking noise with a little vibration on the pedal almost as if it is dry and needs lube.

Try lubing the pedal pivot to eliminate the squeaking with lithium grease.

Your a/c has most likely leaked out if it was never serviced. Try reading this for some background info; http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80107

The a/c won't run when a leak occurs as the pressure is too low to continue running the compressor. There is a low pressure switch that detects too low a pressure below 25-30 psi in the low side and keeps the compressor from running when there's not enough refrigerant to move the oil around to lubricate the compressor. Its a built-in safety forprotecting the compressor.

Look in the engine compartment for the type of refrigerant used, yours may be R12 and will need to be converted to R134a. If its R134a then you may try the cans but use the ones with leak detector so the next time there will be a marker wherever the R134a/dye leaks out.Edited by: ducky
