Exclamation Cannot start my 99 SL

So im having trouble starting my 99 SL Series. At first i thoght it was the clutch. It has all power when the key is in the start position, but when i go to crank it nothing happens as if it doeesnt have a battery in it. If i let it sit for a few weeks, it does just fine. it will start and run great but then all of the sudden will stop starting again. I feel like it is a sensor somewhere in the ignition system, but i just cannot figure it out?

PLEASE HELP ME!

I suspect the clutch pedal switch may not be operational all the time ....

Try lightly tapping the starter motor with a hammer. I've had this issue a couple of times. The car was running great, park it, then it wouldn't "catch" or start again - just slight clicking noise. The starter may just need a little tap to get it engaged.

When the car doesn't want to start, use a test light to check if you have power at the starter (the big cable) and if so, check if you get power at the solenoid when someone else turns the key (be careful in case the car DOES decide to start) if you get power at the solenoid and the starter doesn't engage, replace the starter .... I've had that happen to me on 2 of my Saturns in the past. When the starter is "on its last leg" it works 99 out of 100 times and then the next time, nothing in the world would make it start .... let it sit for 2 days and it starts right up again .... WHEN WILL IT QUIT, NOBODY KNOWS LOL!!!!
