Default check engine light

I have a 2007 Aura with the check engine light on. The car sporadically sputters or lurches at a stop. When this first started the service traction light would come on then the check engine light. First diagnosed as misfire in cylinder 3, replaced spark plugs and coil #3. That worked for about a month now the light is back on and the car is acting up. Code reads P0017 crankshaft/camshaft position sensor. Replaced crankshaft sensor and tried all camshaft sensors, light still stays on, only change is with new camshaft sensor in front cam, then it runs worse. Anyone else have this problem? Any sugguestions?

Who read the codes, who decided what needed to be replaced, who replaced the parts?

Mechanic read codes first but wanted $350 to change 1 spark plug and coil, so a mechanic at work did it for me. When the light reappeared a month later I had it read by AutoZone and Advanced Auto, both showing the same code. Again the mechanic at work changed the parts for me. Sorry but I am not fond of mechanics, most times they treat women like their stupid and claim things need to be repaired that aren't true. I was married to one so I know more about cars than they think and have seen this kind of thing happen on several occasions.

The codes give the area to be looking in for a problem .......... It does not say what parts are bad. So just changing out parts via system codes does not mean it's the fix. If I were you I'd take that car to the nearest GM dealer that is now servicing SATURNS and have it repaired before you spend more money not repairing it.
