defroster always on
#1
All,
I have a 93 SC2 with 122k miles. The HVAC direction selector
switch is inoperaple, and it seems(well the air comes out the top dash
vents, and the compressor seems to be always on) it is stuck on
defrost. The slider moves, however the direction of the air never
changes. I obviously want to remedy this(besides my feet being
cold, it must be killing fuel economy). Is this a common problem,
and if so, is it the cable, or an electrical issue?
thaks in advance,
Rob

Sounds like the mode selector cable is either disconnected from the mode selector, disconnected from the HVAC module on the other end, or is binding (though from your description it sounds like it is disconnected--probably a broken connector at the control module).
Are you sure the A/C compressor is actually on? Is the A/C LED lit all the time? If not, it may just be the outside air coming in through the outside vents.
If the A/C compressor is actually constantly on, then there is probably an electrical issue as well (with the HVAC control panel).
