engine clanking!! help! had low oil?
#1
94 saturn sc2 DOHC 130k miles.
i think it had low oil, i looked at the dipstick and it had just a bit on the tip[very low], but i put in 2 quarts and it was past full... so has anyone almost ran out of oil and dammaged the engine? if so whakt part? or do you have any ideas? the sound is like "talk talktalk talk talktalk talk talktalk" with that pattern. my brother thinks it might be one of the crankshaft bearings? All responses are greatly appreciated!
thank you

Yep, you spun a connecting rod to crank bearing. The sound you're hearing is a piston or pistons smacking the head.
If it made that sound while low on oil, the it went away when you put the correct amount in, I'd say it was a lifer.
If anyone else reads this, theres a way to easily prevent it. Buy a locking gas cap and zip-tie the keys to the oil dipstick. That way everytime you get gas, you're forced to pull the dipstick and you'll remember to check the oil.
