high idle issue
Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this issue. My wife has a 01 SL 1.9L SOHC, and has no codes. The problem is, I keep getting a high idle. I pull off the throttle body (witch has a good later of carbon build up) clean it, and reinstall. Within 3 weeks the car will intermidiately have the high idle. After another 3 to 4 weeks I am about back to pulling the throttle body back for to clean it again. Any ideas?

Go to new member area and introduce yourself. Than stop in the USER CP and add first name, location, and car info to your "signature"
Intake vacuum leak where it bolts to the head cly 1-2. Spray area with carb clear to check. It's been covered a 100 times in every Saturn forum. A simple search yealds a load of information. Problem is that info also gives pozers a load of questions to ask over and over again.

I have checked, and double checked for leaks. I have made sure the TPS, MAF, ect to make sure everything is working properly. I know there is info for this everywhere, but nothing I am finding is fixing the car. I am at a loss.

Have you tried replacing the ECTS? It may not be bad itself, but the connector on it could be cracked. You just squeeze both sides of it to pull it off. Do that and look at it closely. It could be cracked like mine was and needs replacing. It's between 25 and 30 bucks at your Saturn friendly GM dealer. If you get the new ECTS to go along with it, total cost will be around 50 bucks.
