high revving when started and shifting

Default high revving when started and shifting

hi this is my first post and i need some help i have a 2000 sl1 and when ever u start it up it will rev up and when ever u push in the clutch to shift it will rev up. i dont have my foot on the gas. i went to the junk yard and got a new throttle body with the 2 new sensors on it and it did not fix it. another thing is when it has been running for awhile it is real hard to start it back up. if u guys have any idea on what the problem is or how to fix it please let me no

and i forgot to mention i just changed the plugs and wires

Well if you changed the ETCS from one you got from a junk yard all you did is buy something and do the work. Sounds like it could be the ETCS and it's connector just like has been posted about a 100 times this past year on this forum. The parts will need to be new and bought from a dealer (chevy) in your area. You need to buy both the ECTS and the plug for it.

Did you clean the original throttle body? Did you clean the junk yard throttle body?

okay thanks and sorry should have looked first. do u have any idea if this is hard to change out. and ya i cleaned both of them

no -- quite simple--- just do on a cold engine and have a friend hold their finger over the sensor opening as coolant will leak out
