Hello and welcome...No need to double post. I removed one and moved the other.

Looking down onto the hood latch mechanism, you should see the end of the control cable sticking through the lowermost tang on the latch, and secured with an adjustment nut. I seriously doubt that the tang has broken - more likely either the adjustment nut has come off the end of the cable, or the cable itself has failed inside the cable housing.

Near/next to the cable is a plate with a small hole in it (the latch actuator tang) The cable should fit through that hole, and the adjustment nut fit on the cable end. As you pull the hood release lever inside the car, the cable shortens, pulling against the latch tang and releasing the hood lock.

Sounds like the end of the cable has broken off, and the adjustment nut and threaded end of the cable has been lost. If enough slack in the cable housing is present, you might be able to reposition the cable housing, slide the cable through the hole inthe tang, and locate a bushing that would accept the cable end - clamping down on the cable end.

If that doesn't work, you are gonna have to replace the cable assembly -- good luck

Hmmmmmm --

I'm repeating part of your earlier message ".......the cable is not attached to anything......."

Apparently, it was attached after all .............
