can someONE help me? when i got the CODE reader, PO171 came up .how do you fix this? Edited by: richiro333

FSM indicates that it could be:
Vacuum leak
Fuel pressure too low
Water in fuel
Exhaust leakage around the exhaust manifold

It really doesnt matter. A P0171 is a P0171.

And your list of possibilities are indeed make/model/year-independent.

Always nice to know what you''re diagnosing, though.

For example:
While googling the code, I came across dirty "MAF sensor" as a possible culprit and since L cars use MAF sensors and S series use MAP sensors, I thought it''d be nice to know whether we''re talking L or S series here.....lest I suggest to an S car owner to clean his (non existent) MAF sensor....
