i purchased a 96 sl1 back in nov. 08. it has 160,000 miles. runs great. the only issue is....it will not get up to running temp. at best, maybe 1/4 of the way. will not get hot enough in cabin to dethaw windshield. FYI i have done nothing to it so far....it has been to cold to work on it. i suspect clogged radiator. just wondering, is this a common prob with ''96 saturns?? any info appreciated

thansk

If you have a clogged radiator, trust me, you would have more heat than you would need. More likely, it is one of the two following possibilities:

1) The cooling fan is running all the time due to a defective sensor that thinks the radiator is hot, hot, hot ... or

2) The engine thermostat that controls the temperature of the engine is stuck open ... (this is the most likely cause)
