side door mirror loose
just brought the car home tonight .i noticed this issue befor purchase but wasnt gonna let it stop me .
the drivers power mirror kinda flops around .havent had time to look at it but i will give it a look in the morning .
the power mirror works but the mirror itself flops about .
what hold it on there?is it a snap in maybe?maybe a bad snap mount?
just guessing .anyone know??thanks

ok i looked in there and it looks like whatever holds the mirror is broken .
the shell is not broken away ,just the plastic that holds the mirror to the shell.
is this replaceable somehow?can i install new guts into my mirror shell?
i see replacements being sold but they are black ones and i need silver.

Thee mirror itself indeed snaps into the three arms which protrude from the motor which allow you to position it. Sounds like the mirror motor itself has broken its tabs that hold it to the mirror housing.
I am quite familiar with this as I whacked my passenger's side power mirror on a sign; it snapped the mirror housing right off the side of the car and all was left hanging by the electrical cable.
I bought a Kool View replacement for $50 bucks (my car is black gold) then immediately did what you're not supposed to do, which is to try to dismantle the thing.
I broke the cheap mirror supplied with it trying to unsnap it from the motor. Once off, I found to my dismay that the layout of the replacement motor's 3 arms do not match the oem layout.
I did however continue diassembling the unit to get the triangular piece that mounts to the car.
I then proceeded to fill the mirror housing with duct seal (HVAC) and seat the old motor (whose mounting tabs were broken off) into it and reattach it to the car.
This kinda worked for about 2.5 years, but the weight of all that duct seal combined with the crappy roads here in Jersey fatigued the three mounting posts on the triangular piece and they snapped off this fall.
Solution: Bought another Kool View and put it on as is.

is it possible to get the mirror off the arms without breaking the remaining arms?
the top arm seems broken.could be fixed if i can get in there .

The stock mirror can be removed if you're careful but i believe the arms are integral to the motor assembly. They snap into the back of the mirror so there is a good chance that both halves of that broken arm are still there -- if that is indeed the problem.

is there a picture of a disassembled mirror anywhere?online or otherwise?
that would help a great deal .
i could buy a replacement mirror easy enough but it would be black and my car is silver .
