I'm installing a cold air system. And was wondering what that wire is in the bottom of the stock intake. Do I need it?? It looks like it maybe a sensor!
I was looking at short rams, adn they don't have a hole to put it in.. It only seems to fit in a cold air.
SOOOO do I need to use this sensor looking thing???

Yes you need it. Its the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor. Just drill a hole in the intake tube, insert a rubber grommet and press the sensor into place. Most saturn intakes have a spot for it already.

When you buy an aftermarket intake, it should have a connector for the hose that goes to your oil breather and a hole just a little bit from it. Unfortunately, you're probably going to have to lengthen the wires on the sensor so it will reach the spot that they designated for it. I haven't done it on my Saturn yet, but that's usually an issue in Civics.
