Just picked up a 2008 Astra xr. Been doing research for after market items with not much luck. Is there a company with an exhaust system for these cars? Where's the best place to look for performance parts?

It's damn good to see an Astra owner on the site evan if we have picked on the Astra in the past it's still a good little car. Welcome!

Welcome to the Saturn forum .... I have to agree, it's nice to have an Astra owner on the site. I want to see you post pictures of your car add links to anything ASTRA you can find and bolster the ASTRA line on the site.

Exhaust is something you may want to have a local shop build for you. Thats always been the cheapest and many times the best way to go. Don't go over 2inch cat back because it removes low end power and we know 4 bangers need low end power.

Anything Auto (http://www.autoanything.com/car/satu...1A36A9346.aspx) at one time had some items for the ASTRA. Truth is you may have to get everything from Europe in order to pump up performance. Chips DO NOT do anything for the ASTRA no matter what the seller tells you.

I'll guess you'll be able to locate wheels, intake, drop springs, along with some brake items stateside.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll load some pics later on. I'll be honest I had never even seen or heard of the Astra till I got one. It's a lot of fun to drive with the 5 speed. Years ago i was in the mustang scene with no problems finding parts. So not being able to just jump on google and find parts kinda blows.

GM had no intentions of keeping SATURN alive back in 2006-07 so when they brought the ASTRA here they didn't offer an engine to those that wanted it. The Astra weighs in higher then an 2007 loaded ION 3 with the 2.2L or 2.4L engine. Had the ASTRA had the 2.4L option we would have two of them in the garage. Both the ION and Astra are on the Delta Platform with the Astra getting a tighter steering box and suspension. To late now GM, looks like a Ford may be my next compact car.

And GM didn't offer cup holders, armrest, console, aux port in radio, user friendly DIC to the Astra. GM left Saturn dealers hanging from the rafters to die a slow death. They turned the deaf ear to Saturn owners. GM wonders why so FEW SATURN and Pontiac owners are now buying GM cars.

That's true.. There are very few options in the car. Was really surprised how basic the radio is. No aux port really stinks, but I'm over it. I love driving her around town and the mpg is wonderful!

Not ragging on your car, ragging on GM for the way they brought the ASTRA to the US. The ASTRA could have been and done it all for SATURN's compact line but GM had other things in mind.

No i understand, no hard feelings. Is there any direct realtionship to the opel overseas as far as buying parts, Or did they just bring the Astra over here, use the name and change everything up? Also another question. What motor is in my car. I know it says ecotec on it, but I was told its not a true ecotec motor and that they just put an ecotec badge on it.
