Hello I am a long time Saturn Owner, I have a 1996 Saturn SL2 which I paid cash for back in July 23, 1997. The car had 8 factory miles on it.
The only trouble I have had out of the car was at 100,000 miles I had to Remove and Repair the automatic trans axle, and at 150,00 miles I had to stick the car in the shop because my daughter had borrowed the car and burned up all the sensors.
The trans axle repair cost $1800
The Sensors, radiator , electricfan, fuel pump, serpentine belt and tensioner cost $1600
All in all $3400 in repair cost isn't much for an 11 year old car.
The only other problems I have ran into are 1 time I blew out a diode for the air conditioner and I have to replace the upper and lower motor mounts and a TPS. $107 for the motor mounts and TPS... the diode was under warranty.
I have kept maintenance on time, oil changes ever 3,000 miles religiously.
Hopefully I can keep this car for another 11 years, as it has been the best, most reliable car I have ever owned.
