Hello to all. i am just joining, and have been cruising the site for some time. i have memberships to other forums for my other vehicles, and have found that belonging to forums has helped me to repair most of my vehicle problems.
I bought a 1997 Saturn SC2 last year for my daughter to use for school and work. I heard a lot of good about saturns and felt that it potentially had a lot of miles left in it. It had 138,000 miles and i paid $1500 for it. I originally thought i had gotten a good deal, and feel that i still had a good deal. Although it needed a lot of attention and maintenance, I am amazed that it has kept together this long. there a re still a few things wrong with it, but i dont care, as long as it gets my daughter around and it continues to run well.
I have had to; change all motor mounts, valve cover gasket, exhaust flex pipe, battery, tie rods, serpentine belt (oil soaked), cleaned throttle body, cleaned egr valve, replaced coolant temp sensor, new tires.
Things that still need fixed; sunroof, a/c.

Yep, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you're competent enough to keep that car going for a while. And since you're from the Northwest, do you really need the a/c?
