Incredible.
That sure sounds impressive.
1 Billion dollars thrown around as if it is chump change.
But
It is a tax deferment.
WOW that ought to be worth something in cash.
But probably not.
This to me is reminiscent of the recalls issued on my Pontiac Fiero on engine fires. A situation that occured due to a poorly designed cooling system.
The recalls never solved the problem, but interesting enough, never addressed it either which makes it extremely difficult to resolve it.
But it made good headlines.
Knowing what I had to deal with in my case lead to my never having to worry about it.
I enjoyed the car from the day it was bought to the day it was sold out right to buy a Camero.
My only regret in the whole shmear of things was throwing away the placard I was supposed to stick on the dash board in a prominent location that said to make sure the radiator was full of water or the engine would catch on fire.
As if I wanted that ugly SOB to be stuck on the dash board of my car.
Yuh!
Unfortunately long after the fact it dawned on me that as far as automotive memorabilia went it was a pries classic representation of stupidity.
Personally I really think that on the whole, recalls are a poorly managed joke.

This is seperate of the recall. It has to do with lawsuits against toyota over loss of value.

"The company said the deal will resolve hundreds of lawsuits from Toyota owners who said the value of their cars and trucks plummeted after a series of recalls stemming from claims that Toyota vehicles accelerated unintentionally."
