The problem might be that you don't live in a bad neighborhood. If you want to steal things you don't go to a bad neighborhood where people don't have much, you go to a good one. The pickins are better.

sorry-- that was me.

(not)

In all seriousness, I agree with Trike. People go where the gettin's good.
Though 5AM on the east coast in winter is a stupid time of day to be inconspicuous if you're casing a ride. If he drove up then maybe he was casing for a buddy. The fact that the 1st alarm didn't phase him prob means he was just admiring it --

or he was on meth.

It was derf ................ I found long ago to have a stock head unit and never have the windows tinted more then 20% so those like derf can look inside and see there is nothing to break into the car to get. I keep nothing in my car. I never leave hoodie laying about so derf thinks I have something hiding under it. Sorry derf but you did say it was you. If you look at my wheels you'll see I have 4 types of lugnuts all using a different key. Maybe I over do it abit, maybe not. I'll just say I've had one car broken into and one set of wheels and tires stolen before I started following this rule I came up for my cars....Oh and another rule to follow, don't sit around where your car sleeps thumping bass. derf-on-meth may be doing a drive buy looking for hits, and you just advertized that your car has something to get.

I could probably leave the key in mine with a "For Steal" sign in it and it would be safe. It's pretty ragged on the inside and folks around here are snotty. I love it!

If ya leave a ragged out child's booster seat haphazardly mounted (?) in the back seat, that will usually deter any thieves (they figgure if you got a kid, you ain't got anything in there they'd want)

Sounds like a good idea -- plus, if ya leave them blown up during the day, ya can use the HOV lanes on the turnpike .... LOL

I too do not live in a "Bad" neighbor hood, but crooks do manage to get around. My neighbors van was stolen from the drive way one night as an example. But, I periodically get some one looking at the Saturn and/or maybe another car and asking if it is for sale.
It is surprisingly not too uncommon.
