Default Surprise! My 94 is still worth some money!

I sat down and had an insurance review this week. It was needed. And for the most part my coverage on 5 cars and the house is pretty much on the money. But in doing so I found the insurance company values my Saturn at about 2 grand.
As far as transportation value I consider it worth more. I just finished getting the interior redone to deal with the sun damage to the upholstery. The A/C and the mechanics work good or as good as they ever did. It leaks a bit of oil now and I need a slightly better balance job on the tires. I need to put new seals in the moon roof and re-do the paint, but if needed I could jump in and drive it back East with out concerning myself about reliability. `

Sure is tough to put a hard number on a car. I bought this 2007 QuadCoupe 3 with the factory installed body kit, 2.4L, leather, sunroof, top of the line stereo, and every other option the car came with. Bought it used, car was cared for, super clean, low miles, yet it needed a few items. Sway bar bushings, tires, front brakes, and floor mats. Thanks to Rj all is done. Anyway.........I would not sell my Coupe for what I paid for it. I would not sell my coupe for $2K more than I paid for it. If I get the chance I'll buy Rj's sedan when he is ready to sell and I will pay top dollar and more. Why because as fine as my coupe was when I bought it, his is super fine. What your car worth to you is what it's all about, insurance be dammed.

Well,, a hard number for sure, anyway. As a member of a forum like this it is pretty much an indicator that we as owners have an attachment to our transportation. An attachment that frankly is some what emotional. And that has been changing over the years. Whether the change is for the good or not is certainly open for question. Cars and the companies that build them have either capitalized on them or not successfully is even questionable. The automotive industry is not the healthiest beasty in the world with automobile companies going out of business as we type. As to models available? What is to say. Cosmetically they are probably the fewest ever in the history of them. Cars have become in many ways about as appealing as an appliance and about as diverse as one. Custom construction seems to be strong, whether it actually is or not I don't know for sure, but there is a niche that appears to have diversity to it and solid value. But it is indeed a niche. Four of the five cars are own are brands that no longer are in production and the fifth is shaky at best.
And itself is some what questionable as to whether it will stay in production for too many years. It is just some what surprising that an entity such as an insurance company has considered that my almost 20 year old Saturn has some value, but then again the objective of the insurance company is to sell me a product that will return to me some of the value should something happen to it. The tune very well could change when it came time to return to me some of that money
