1997 SATURN SL1 152670 ORIGINAL MILES. GOOD NJ INSPECTION STICKER UNTIL 2016. Perfect starter/first car as had been maintained. Recent tune up with PCV Valve and Air Filter, and oil + filter change using synthetic blend Shell Rotella Oil. Also has had new exhaust system and 4 wheel brake job ,and 4 new tires done within the last 6 months. AC works nice and cold. Has minor parking lot dings and dent passenger side doors . Was burning oil and fouling #3 sparkplug so I just did an engine decarboning as per GM Technical Bulletin and installed an anti fouler on cylinder # 3 to help. Check Engine Light was cleared and came back on.

How much oil consumed per 3K miles?

 

The car was being used by my wife's RN to move her between local medical facilities out of state and she called me about 6 weeks ago saying car was smoking and using a lot of oil. I found #3 plug fouled and PCV Valve was stuck and after reading problems on forums I ran GM Carbon Clean thru the intake and removed the sparkplugs and did 2 treatments each cylinder followed up with Marvel Mystery Oil and an Oil Change with Shell Rotella Synthetic Blend with filter. Car not on road now but noticed a lot less smoke when it's started now and as not registered now I can't say for certain that the cylinder treatment has helped unstick cylinder # 3 rings so I installed an anti-fouler on the cylinder just to be safe. She said it seemed like it was burning a quart every 200 to 300 miles but the car was not driven on the highway but local short trips.I also added a can of B12 in the gas tank so it hopefully will improve as it's run. So it's a crap shoot that GM's Decarbon procedure has made an improvement other than I no longer see a 10 minute blue smoke screen when first started .CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS OR FOR PARTS
