I am currently not experiencing any hot heat in my car. It is luke warm when the heater is on. I brought it to a mechanic, they told me I needed a new heater core. My temp gauge never gets to the mid or hot range. I was wondering if I could try flushing it before replacing the heater core? And if so, how do I go about doing that? Is this definitly the heater core? I also can''t seem to find my thermostat.
Thank you!!

Doesnt sound like a heater core problem. Sounds more like a problem with the cars cooling system.

Hmmm ...

Normally, the thermostat would be found underneath (inside) the fitting that adapts the radiator hose to the engine. Sometimes these things get stuck in the open position, and sometimes previous owners have removed them entirely. Doing thisallows total free-flow through the cooling system, which could prevent the engine from reaching the proper operating temperature. In either case, I would opt for a new one ...
