I recently acquired a 2000 SC1 and while it is performing well, the fan for heat/ac only works most of the time on high or low. It will occasionally kick on for short periods of time but usually only works on the high or low setting. Is this a common problem; does anyone have any insight>

 

Well, it could be one of two problems. Either the blower motor resistor pack has gone bad, or the contacts on the switch itself have become loose or corroded. Gonna have to open the dashboard area up to gain access to the HVAC section and inspect the switch and resistor pack. As for a common problem - some cars get it, and some cars do not
