Car chugging after replacing ECTS
#1
Hey guys, i'm new to this forum and im looking for a little advice.
I own a '92 SC2 and was having trouble with my rad fan not turning on when the engine got hot. I read into the posts here and found a really helpful post by derf about the ECTS. I pulled out the ECTS and saw it had a crack in it. I replaced it with a new ECTS and a new connector from the dealer and it fixed the problem and the car ran like a dream.
The thing is that now, 6 hours later, i jumped into my car and it chugs like crazy if i step on the gas too hard. Where did i go wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a bit of an update, i went to go pick up my girlfriend from work and the car is chugging really bad. It's barely drivable. I think it's running really rich. It idles roughly and the exhaust is puffing out of the tailpipe. Maybe the guy at the saturn dealer gave me the wrong ECTS? I'm pretty sure I didn't wire it incorrectly. help!

If the replacement coolant sensor is brass the problem is elsewhere but if you used another resin-tipped sensor................throw it away and find the brass one that is permanent. When you determine what's what and this new problem won't go awaypost again with more details if possible.

Got it all fixed up!
I remembered that i cleaned my engine afterwards cuz i did a coolant flush and got a bunch of coolant on the engine. I pulled the spark plug wires and looked down to where the plugs are and there was about an inch of water in each hole sitting on my plugs.
Cleaned out the water best i could, warmed up the engine, pulled the wires and let the rest evaporate out and it's as good as new. You think they would make those plug wires seal better being located vertically in a recessed area like that. Oh well, thanks for the help anyways guys.
