engine stumble lugging engine up a hill
#1
I have a 95 SC2 automatic with about 120K that runs fine with the original motor/trans.
Lately when taking it easily (like being in 4th at 40 mph going up a slight hill) the engine will occasionally cut out or stumble for a second. It will only do it when lugging the motor a bit atlow rpm. It's most pronounced if I press the gas to the point right before it would down shift. Runs great and smooth at all other times with plenty of power.
Any ideas? (No engine codes present)
thanks in advance.

have you checked the basics? plugs/wires, airfilter, oil change, and some fuel injector cleaner? Alot of people naysay the injector cleaner additive, but i have found that it works very well in my endeavours. If that checks out, try some higher octane fuel, if that helps youve got a fuel delivery problem somewhere, not quite getting the fuel you need. Also, you might want to check the tranny oil, since its most notable before downshift, it leads me to believe your tranny might be protesting somewhat....its worth some investigation if the fuel delivery and tune up dont turn up anything.
