Im looking to Purchase an auto SC for about a year. My G/Fs car exploded and she needs something to get her through her last year of school

I have found 2002 SC2 143,000 miles for $3,000
Leather + sunroof, but higher miles.

or 1998 SC2 w/ 75k miles for $4,000
lower miles, cloth, aftermarket HU

The bodies and interior look exactly the same for the 2 years, is there any difference in engine, tranny, suspension

What about reliability? would the newer year still be more reliable even though it has 70,000 more miles?

Do those prices seem about right?

Im looking to make a decision this week, so the more info the better.

Leather is too hot and I've had problems with my sunroof. Expect higher maintanence costs, I have 125000 on my 02 and problem after problem keep popping up. Be good if it had a service record.

I always go for lower miles. I think the cars are pretty much the same except the body changed some in 01.

 

agreed. the one thing you'll want to check for if you get the 98 is if the ects has been changed out where the 02 you shouldn't have to worry about it. Sunroofs seem to be a big issue through the s series for some reason so you may want to avoid it and as said there is some slight body differences between the two but nothing huge

I'd get the 98 SC2, but I'd buy neither at those prices. Way too high.

 

not too much difference b/n the 2. go for the 98, but that price should be cut damn close to half imo... what color is it? other options? stock rims? auto/man? working key fob?
