SeatBelts not locking w/hard braking
#1
95SC2 , 200K+ mi.
I recently noticed that the seat belts don''t "lock" (freezing belt mechanism from feeding out more) under sudden braking conditions (similar to an impending crash). (My 97SC2 belts lock up as they should.....)
I believe there is some mechanical based widget in the belt system which senses the inertia change and locks the belt in place (though I''ve never taken an assembly apart so I don''t know what is inside)
1) Is there a way to fix these if so, how? Exploded diagram would be great.....
2) If I go hunting the yards, is it correct that the belts from a 95 or 96 SC2 are the only ones that will work for my 95 SC2?

Derf ...
I have never tried to take one apart, I just replace them if they go bad (fail to operate). Not sure about what years are compatible, but I suspect either sw2cam or LowSaturn will chime in and enlighten us both ...

Update:
Apparently, my earlier near-crash simulations were not realistic enough. I absolutely plowed on the brakes today and low and behold, there was my trusty belt locking up like a charm.
They used to be triggered by much less, but at least know I need not replace them.
The belts on my 97 lock without the car even moving, so I''m thinking the inertial sensing design is different....
