Ok, when I got the car, I bought it used from the dealer. the sun roof motor was on its way out. under the warranty I had, they replaced the motor and slides. Now a year later, the sun roof just does not open.

The motor kicks on and stars moving the slide rods but only moves about a 1/4" before it freezes and the glass does not move. Anyone else have this sort of problem?

Actually,I'm pretty sure I do too. I also bought my 01 SC2 used from a dealer. Now my roof worked fine for quite awhile. Not too long ago,I tried opening it,you would hear the motor,it would start to raise 1/4 to 1/2 and would not go any further.i would press the close button and you could hear the motor and it would go back into place. Now,i press to open it,and all you hear is the motor and no movement.I have not been to a dealer yet regarding this.I will be visiting one very soon-I will keep you posted. Go to the sunroofdoctor.com site for information on roof repairs and the typical broken parts found on our sunroofs. They explain in good detail what's involved in repairing. They're expensive though.

Ducky-Thanks for the help-I had a feeling it wouldn' t be a cheap fix-Thats probably why i have been prolonging my trip to the dealer.

Yeah, thanks ducky, That's abit on the pricey side, but I could imagine the dealer to be worse. That aluminum kit is something to look into though.
