1997-2000 have the same exterior body panels
2000-2002 have the same interior.
PCM got moved from under the dash to the engine compartment in 2000.
Engine got the plastic vertical intake manifold, narrower head and roller rockersin 2000.
The exhaust manifolds went from the five bolt to the nine bolt design in 1999.
Other than that, they''re basically the same car.

Theres never really been a reason given as to why. But I assume its because of the added weight of the precat thats part of the manifold on non-federal emissions cars.

A short ram intake takes warmairin inside the engine compartment. A cool air intake suck in air from outside the engine compartment. And to be honest, you''re really not going to notice a difference between the two.Edited by: Low Saturn

A cold air intake has no effect on engine cooling. If anything adding an intake would make the engine run hotter because you''''d most likely be driving tha car harder.
DOHC''''s dont have heating problems anyway. As long as the cooling system is working properly, there should be zero problems.

A few more horse power. Maybe. But both those products are extremely over priced. You can get a full cat back exhaust system done at an exhaust shop for a fraction of that price.
And if you have a 1998 and older, you can use the factory 1991/1992 tubularheader. Edited by: Low Saturn

Well, I could easily understand a cold air kit out in the areas of the country that have high temperatures and low rainfall, but for ease of operation, I personally would keep the existing system in areas that have snow or get lots of rain (read standing rainwater).
