Wont start when wet?
#1
Hello all, new to the forum and would appreciate any help on this matter. I recently purchased a 2001 SC1 in great shape with high mileage for my teenage son. The vehicle drives and runs great, (except) when it has rained out the night before? The engine will turn over but not start. The wires and plugs are new. Where would mositure be collecting to cause such problems. I must also add that on moist mornings the car will stumble until it has run for approx 30 minutes. Any and all ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you

Thats a very odd one. VW bugs did this sort of thing when the plugs got old, I have never heard of such a thing on a Saturn single or twin cam. That in mind I wonder if it has an after market air intake that is piped out close to the ground that could be getting wet. I'd check to see if you have any corrosion on the coil packs. I'd also check to see if the temp sensor is corroded. If the sensor is leaking the smallest amount you'll see the connection turning green on the inside at the contacts. If thats the case. Replace both the sensor and the connector. Get both from the dealer. Please let us know what you find.
