Default AC problems!!

Alright I have a question. Was wondering what you guys thought. Last October I purchased my 08 astra xr. Car only had 19,000 miles on it. A week after I got it I had the ac compressor replaced cause it was making some bad sounds. I dont know it they put a new compressor or a re-maned compressor. Anyway about 2 weeks ago my ac will just stop blowing cold. This will happen for 2-3 min. then the cold air comes back. It has not been happening everyday, but it's happening to often. Heck it shouldnt be doing that at all. So could it be an electrical problem like the connector? Could it be a clutch problem. Could it be low on freon? I have not had time to look closely at it yet. I know some about ac systems but not a lot. Some help on what to check would be appreciated! Thanks!

Check the pressures, both high side and low side (autozone will rent the gauges to ya)

First thing I'd check is the blower resistor and related connector located on the passenger side under the dash mounted in HVAC housing. Normally fastened with two hexhead/phillips screws. Maybe a search will help with more information if needed.

I got it pressure tested. Both the high and low side were where they were supposed to be. I didn't write them down so I can't tell u what they were. Weird thing is the week I wrote that post temps here in Houston were 100+ degrees. But as soon as the weather got back down to the mid 90's I have not had a problem at all.

Well, if you're gonna drop your search on this issue, I guess there's not much else to be done. Enjoy the cooler weather, and remember, Winter is on the way ...

Be sure to check that resistor and it's plug.........they tend to get hot and melt at the plug. Seperate the melted wire from the harness a few inch's back ... that helps it dissipate heat and keeps the hottest part of the wire from burning into the others.

Yes sir you may want to check that resistor and plug. Had the same problem with my Solstice and thats what it was. Melted the corner of the plug purdy bloody good. I seperated the wires from the harness as far back as I could go and added a wire though heat sink. No more trouble .... yet!

So did you check the resistor and connector? Might want to do that before the heat returns.
