Default 2007 saturn ion ac problems

Hello, i just inherited a 2007 Saturn ion and was driving along and ac went out and for 4 days even when I click the ac button on, nothing came on not even the outdoor radiator fan. So was driving home tonight with the button still on, comes on. What is this mystery? Is there a short? I didn't hit any holes to cause it to come on

Sounds like a blessing to me! Seriously though, I'd check the switch on the dash for a loose connection and if that's not it, I'd check the plug on the compressor for either a loose or corroded connection.

Any type of corrosion or buildup on electrical connections of all kinds (screw terminals, relay contacts, relay socket contacts, etc) could cause the circuit to behave inconsistently

So could a bad AC relay, bad AC Compressor clutch, low refrigerant cutoff switch, or an actual low refrigerant level situation.

The fan will not spin until the clutch kicks in and the AC circuit is completed.

Was the AC doing a good job of cooling before the incident?

Not a sarcastic question:

Was it blowing cold air after the system was charged? And how cold? Meaning ice ice ice cold, ice cold, kinda cold, barely cold...?

How long since the time it was charged did it cool properly?

Does the AC compressor engage when you turn on the AC?
