Default Audio Questions

When I bought my ION the Parts Manager that used to work at the dealership which is one of my good friends told me that i couldnt install an after market radio because it would set off a check engine light. Is this bull**** or is it true and if it is true how do i get it so it doesnt set off the light because i see that 85% of the people with the same car have an after market radio

Well - as I understand it, the check engine light says (in effect) that there is a failure code of some type set in the computer. I've researched my listings carefully, and nowhere do I find a failure signal that says ..."after market radio installed".

Well, I agree that the original radio has a connection back to the CHIME fuse (org wire) which is hot at all times, but unless you simply butcher the connectors, that should not create a problem.....
