What to do to keep the ION at its peak?
#1
Greetings Fellow Saturn Owners:
For a variety of reasons, I had to trade my wonderful Nissan Titan Crew Cab pickup in on an equally wonderful, 2007 Saturn Ion 3.
Since I will need to keep this vehicle for a LONG time, what do I need to do to make sure that it keeps running and looking its best? Thanks to native american casinos I have limited funds but I can forgo lunches to spend it on useful things (Synthetic Oil vs regular, etc..)
Any ideas as to the best way to care for the interior and exterior would be appreciated.
Regards,
Dan

Golly,
What a concept, RTFM. Now why didn't I think of that?
Oh, wait, I already have.
As an adjunct to RTFM, I was seeking advice and guidance from those who have greater experience with the vehicle.
Thanks for all the help.

Golly what else would you like us to say.
Advice for any car
Follow maint schedule
Keep tires up
Change oil
Change filters (air-oil-cabin)
Buy good gas
Buy good oil ( many use MOBIL-1)
Keep car clean (in and out)
Keep fluids topped off
Do not over heat
I mean the book tells you everything, what a conceptEdited by: sw2cam

Sorry,
I am in a cranky mood. Too much work and not enough time off.
I was just looking for any special hints that owners have gathered over the years.
For example, your comment that many owners useMobil1 was what I was looking for.
What do you use for wax on the car? Any special type?
Are there anymodifications you or others have made that you would or wouldn't do again? (Change bulbs in the head lights to a different type or swap out the transmission fluid to use synthetic, etc...)
Does scotchgarding the fabric interior make sense or is there a better alternative or would it be a waste of time?
When it comes time to replace the tires, what brands work best? Since I live in Minnesota, would it make sense to have a set of winter tires to switch to? If so, any recommendations?
If you made any other modications, do you wish that you would have done them earlier?
Have I described what I am looking for better this time?
Again, I am sorry for my attitude in the reply this morning, the coffee finally kicked in.
Regards, Dan

I only use 3M products on my cars.
Every mod I made worked well, and I'd do them again
Scotchgarding is more then worth it on any car.
I live in Arizona but I understand Blizzaks are great winter tires.
I've made alot of mods on my many Saturns, all done asap from the time I bought the car
Maybe you should stay in Edina and out of the casino's. Sounds like you were fool-ish.
One other thing, have it dealer serviced. To manyfools with toolshave no idea what a Saturn is.Edited by: sw2cam

My car is waxed 4 times a year with a good quality wax. My tires are rotated every 5,000 miles (with my oil changes) and fuel filter and air filter is changed then as well. I love to use Miguire (sp?) products in my car, i think they work wonderful. Changing the break pads..yahda yahda im sur e you'v heard the rest!
