2003 lw200 has slight miss during idle
Car has 134000 miles and has started to have a slight miss during idle, like a slight miss or a hickup at random. Car runs fine otherwise. While in gear stopped it would skip or miss at random, take it out of gear and place it in N and appear to go away. Same results with or without running the A/C
Replaced the four plugs with autolites. replaced the rubber boots around the plugs, removed the throttle body and cleaned inside etc, cleaned at air filter, added fuel injector cleaner to the gas, and still misses at idle at random.
Any ideas would be helpful
Cheers

Are you sure the plugs are tight enough? I know that is a common issue with misfire codes popping up during idle.

Plugs should be just past hand tight---I call it snug.
Aluminum so too much torque =unhappy situation.
Any codes?
Usually misfires get picked up like nobody's business and the PCM throws codes.
Were the plugs you removed oil soaked or fuel soaked?
If the crank posit sensor (CKP) was acting up, your car would likely not run at all. No signal from CKP = no spark + no fuel= no run. Or throw a code (rare)
Remember that the idle speed in neutral is different than the idle speed in gear, which is lower. So it may have to do with something other than the traditional ignition system.
I could throw out wild guesses all night, but that does neither of us any good.
Keep on with the fuel injector cleaner while we troubleshoot.
Sorry for taking so long to respond.
You'll be granted a few extra days past the traditional 10 day limit due to our ineptitude.

If none of those suggestions work, try cleaning the throttle body.

he already did.

Yeah, my bad derf. I see the throttle body was removed and cleaned. Duhhhh. Maybe a slight vacuum leak?

It probably wouldn't hurt to change the fuel filter too. I it's getting fuel since it's a slight miss at idle, but if the filter hasn't been replaced in a while it needs it. Is the SES light on? any trouble codes?

the dude is banned for lack of activity -- which includes never coming back to say yay, nay, nor thank you
