L200 Won’t start! HELP!!
#1
I had some strange noises coming from my engine (rough idle) and
decided
I needed a bit of oil. I went back out to my car to go to the store, started
the
car, backed out of my space and the car died. Now when I attempt to
start
the engine it only tries to start but doesn''''''''t. There is a kind of whirring
sound
as well. I also need gas but it''''''''s run on less before. It''''''''s just above empty
(the
gas warning light dinged about 5 miles before I turned it off). Any ideas?
I''''''''m
P.S.- My Dealership said that the Timing Belt "slipped" but didn''t break.
This in turn broke some bracket. I was told that the engine has sludge
build up and that caused the problem. I had regular oil changes and I''m
of the opinion that the sludge is normal for 138k miles. They say I need a
new engine. Can''t I get the sludge flushed out somehow? What should I
do here? Get the timing belt fixed and flush the sludge out is my opinion.
desperate here and stuck at work.
P.S. - 2002 L200 with about 110k miles.
EDIT - THE WHIRRING SOUND ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I TURN THE KEY. IT''''S
DEFINITELY NOT THE COOLING FAN. Edited by: JJennings74

Well ... I have never trusted the low fuel indicator, so the first thing I would do, is to rob the lawnmower gas can, and get some more fuel in the tank. If you are at work, see if some fellow worker will loan you a couple of gallons.
Since you recently drove the car, and were going out again, the whirring noise you hear may be the cooling fan. Let the car sit for an hour or two, and see if the noise disappears.
If you get gas in the car, and still cannot get started, you may have other issues, but I hope not. Good luck
