Default LW200 Headlamp Assembly Replacement

We have a 2001 LW200 Wagon. The headlight does not turn on unless it is tapped before driving. How is the Headlight Assembly removed? Attempted to remove bulb however unsuccessful removing bulb as well. Interesting not able to locate any video or instructions on internet how this is accomplished. 205,000 miles and has been extremely reliable car. Thanks

If your car still has the factory headlight assemblies they come out somewhat easily. Remove the top inner bolt and the phillips head screw facing forward. Starting at the end nearest the center of the car, swing the headlight assembly towards the fender end. The assemblies are a two piece unit. The outer end of the bracket stays in the car and the part that contains the bulbs comes out for maintenance. They can be sticky since the car is 21 years old. Leave the outer bolt in place.

Default 2001 LW200 Headlight Assbly replacement

Thank you, it's a start. Removed phillips and top inner bolt however moves sideways toward center after slight pivoting however there must be another screw or bracket fixing assembly from indicator fender side. Attempted both sides however could not pivot them out. I'll replace screws and do more research or response on this.

It is 20 year old dry plastic. Try some wd40 at the pivot spot. You have to remove the bumper cover to remove the outer bracket. That is why there is a phillips head screw so you can change the bulbs without tearing the car apart.

3 sessions, 3 days attempting and multiple hours to remove 2001 LW200 Headlamp and replace 2006 lamp bulb. Pulled, twisted, tapped, pried and lubed everything trying to remove assembly. Determined Parking light Bulb holder in Headlamp Assembly protrudes through headlamp assembly mount as well and prevents Headlamp Assembly from being removed. Parking light bulb mount is very challenging to rotate and remove located within tight enclosure location. I could feel that Headlamp was catching on something but did not understand how assemble removed nor could see that parking light bulb holder was preventing removal. Finally heard distinctive loud "crack" and found after studying behind assembly with mirror and light it was parking light mount catching on Headlight Assembly mount. After removing parking light mount the headlight assembly removed easily!
I was able to glue parking light bulb holder back together with super glue and clamp.
Tried to remove Headlight Assembly in two previous sessions over several months. Thank you very much for your help!
