Default passive security system trouble

The other day I started up my 2002 Saturn l200 to let it run since it hadn't been run for a while. I noticed that the running lights didn't come on. I turned off the car and the lights flickered in an odd way. I tried to restart the car and it won’t turn on. Leaving the car in the ACC spot on the ignition the lights flicker and the radio comes on and off. I arm the alarm and the horn beeps constantly at a low volume security light is flickering. Once this is going on I can’t unlock the car with the remote. To get this to stop I have to put the key in the ignition and try to start the car. Luckily the car is in the garage so it’s not an issue. I waited the 15 minutes like was suggested in other forums but it didn’t solve the issue. Any advice on this will be much appreciated

Sounds like you have a bad cable (usually the positive cable) going from the battery to the first connection point. Replace it, and make sure your connections are clean and tight

Thanks i checked that and everything was nice and tight. I wound up changing the battery and that fixed the problem. The car had been setting for over 25 days without being run. After doing some deep reading into the owners manual i found out that if you are not going to run the car for 25 days to remove the negative terminal. I was completely unaware of this. And they didn't make it very easy to find in the book either. Thanks again for the reply
