Remote Starter Problem
#1
I had a remote starter installed in my 2001 L200 a couple years ago, and they had to install a relay to bypass part of the theft protection system. Apparently if there is a feature that will disable the fuel pump for 20 minutes if someone attempts to start the car without the key. This is a great feature if someone is trying to steal your car, but not so good if you are trying to remotely start the car. The remote starter installer installed a relay to bypass this feature, but this relay keeps failing. I have taken the car back twice to have the relay replaced, but it still sometimes doesn't work, and when I try to use the remote starter, the car may start, or it may not in which case I have to sit and wait for 20 minutes to try it with the key.I don't know if the installer was using junk parts, or what, but I am trying to find where on the car this relay would be so that I can replace it with a different (hopefully higher quality) relay.Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? I know aftermarket kits could be just about anywhere, but there are probably a couple of common places to locate everything.

Its not a relay. Its a bypass module to bypass the Passlock II system. Cheaper modules have been known to fail, leaving you stranded.
I use modules that tap into the OBDII connector rather than having to cut the wire to the ignition switch. That way if the module flakes out, you can still start the car with the key.

When the bypass goes out, the key works, U just have to wait 20 minutes. Are you saying that there is a module where the key will work right away without the 20 minute wait?
Where would I get a better quality bypass module?
