2004 l300 V6

Default 2004 l300 V6


Got a whining noise it's above the water pump in a black housing...dont know what that is?

While I'm not at all familiar with a V-6 Saturn, I'm pretty sure that's your timing belt. I'm not a mechanic, so don't take my word for it, okay? I'm sure someone who knows the L Series will tell you what that is. Be patient.

You need to get this repaired soon. It is a timing belt idler pulley or the timing belt is too tight. These are an interference engine which means catastrophic failure if the belt fails!

Well shucks...thats what I thought...just started making that noise about 3 weeks ago...so replace belt pulley annnnnnd...?

Timing belts on these cars are complicated, so if you are not a very experienced mechanic I would contact a reputable shop.

oh yeah,
I replaced the thermostat because I think the fan runs more than it should...but nothing changed...so there's another fish to fry....
