I was wondering if any one knew how long a flush and refill of the coolant system on a 2003 L200 would take? Also, is there anything I should really be wary of? Do''s and Don''ts kind of thing. As far as I know, my system hasn''t been flushed in at least 4 years and the inside of expansion tank has some dark deposits in it and the coolant looks a bit rusty looking.

Any pointers?

Your description sounds like it is way past time for a little tender loving service. Be sure you dispose of the old coolant properly, because it is poisonous to pets. Might have to take the expansion tank loose, and agitate it vigorously with warm soapy water, followed by water and 1/4 cup of vinegar. Then flush again and reinstall. Follow the instructions on the coolant flush bottle, and you should have no problems. Actual time is about 2 hours from start to finish for a home mechanic

Thanks guys. It took me the better part of a day to do it (mainly because of the cleaner I used), but this is how we learn.
