Hello,

I have a 2001 SL1. cooling fan will not run when A/C is turned on, or when car gets hot (little over 1/2 way on guage).

Fuses ok.
Relay(s) ok. (swapped cooling fan relay with air pump relay, A/C relay with horn relay)
wire to fan, ok ( jumped relay socket to test fan)
Fan ok
A/C cycles in but cuts out.

It appears that the relay never gets a signal to energize it.

Any help will be appreciated.

 

Normal for the cooling fan to come on at the 3/4 mark or when the A/C is on and running normal. If the A/C is inop the fan will not come on. If the A/C cycles on and off it may be low on refrigerant. If it's low on refrigerant you may have a leak.

And to mention the SAME OLD STORY the etcs may be bad. If it is bad buy a replacement from a GM dealer and get the replacemnt connector at the same time.
