Any advise would be appreciated as I don''t mind working on the car but don''t want to replacce any uneccesary parts:

My 95 SL has about 179000 miles on it. Recently it has begun to sputter; especially going up hill. There is not a huge perceptible loss of power, but the car spits and runs very rough. It is not that bad except going up hills especially in 4th at around 70-80 mph. Also, it occasionally will run just as poorly at idle, but at moderate throttle levels it seems fine. It has new plugs, and I replaced the wires also thinking they were the source of the problem but no luck. My next step is the fuel filter unless someone has other ideas. Thanks in advance for all the help!

I really would have thought the plugs on this one. Are your properly gapped? Because one of those two things is what i would have gone with as well

I may have fouled a plug; the plug wires were hastily replaced (out of town for work when they acted up) and I noticed one was loose when I got home (loose on the coil pack end). I will check them when I work on it tomorrow. Thanks!

Good call; it was the plugs. They had about 3000 miles or less on them but one was fouled due to the plug wires. Thanks for pointing my attention back in the right direction!

cool. Glad you got it fixed. It seems like the simplest solution is often the correct one
