I have a 1996 SL2 with about 103,000 miles. It's constantly leaking oil, and the first cylinder spark plug is full of oil. The rest are fine though. Any ideas as to where the leak is coming from and what needs to be replaced?< =""><!--

The valve covers on the DOHC engines are noted for leaking oil into the spark plug wells and down the outside of the covers.

When you do an oil change you should replace the oil plug seal, if not why not.

A cracked engine head is a common problem to mid-late 1990 SLs. Saturn
knew this eventually happens to your make of car. To join a potential
class action law suit, please email your year, make, model and mileage to saturnjustice@gmail.com.

Hard to say without seeing any pictures or the car. You could be leaking from many different areas. I just replaced the oil pan gasket that was leaking pretty good on my 1995 SL2. Book time says its a 3.5 hour job. I just used an RTV silicone to make my own gasket after buffing the old one off. Hasn't leaked a drop since. The valve cover gasket is easy to replace on this model as well. I need to do that sometime soon as I have the same issue with oil in my spark plug holes. It's also silicone if I remember right.

lol little old bringing this post back to life. But it was the cam cover gasket. Went to Saturn of Plymouth, and they said they sold me the right gasket, but the part that went around the spark plug wells was too small. So I ordered the one off of SPS and that one fit perfectly. I hadn't really done much work with cars before I did this. Hadn't even changed my own oil before this, and it was fairly simple. So overall this was a pretty easy thing that if it ever goes bad on my car or any of my friends cars, especially Saturns, I know I can do it again. So thanks to everyone for the help.< =""><!--
