Got a 1997 SL and have the radio head unit with the AUX in jack on the back. Bought a Sirius unit for christmas that can use the CD Changer in AUX input instead of the FM Transmitter. Thing is I'm not sure what the part number is for the cable I need.

Is this anything I can get at say, a Best Buy, or do I have to go through a Saturn parts outlet to get it. I imagine it is a fairly simple/basic hookup that can be used on a variety of cars.

On the same topic, how do I gain access to the back of the unit so I can see the plug? Do I need to remove dash trim or does the radio simply slide out? Is there any way to get back there without having to do any of that stuff?

Thanks.

Dash trim (center shroud) is held on by those pop-up-center clips -- one on each side of the center console-- about calf high.

Once the clips are removed, the console can be swung upward and out of the way (mostly)

Then there are a few screws on the front to remove. Finally, there should be tabs (one on each side) of the unit which need to be pressed in in order to remove the unit.

As for cable assemblies --- dunno -- check with Saturn parts -- they will know....

We have detailed how-to instruction on our site for radio removal.

As for the input adaptor, P.I.E. sells ananx input adaptor for 1995-1999 Saturns. The part number is GM10-AUX. I had this adaptor in my 2001 Suburban before I bought my Kenwood DVD player and its sound quality far surpassed wired or wireless FM modulators or casette adaptors. It now in our 2002 Tahoe.
